Oklahoma Health Information Exchange Voucher Program for Rural Providers

OHIET(Oklahoma Health Information Exchange Trust) has released the Voucher program for physician practices within Oklahoma available for Physicians practicing outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Cleveland and Comanche counties.

The crux of the Voucher program has to do with enabling HIE access for more rural practices with assistance provided by OHIET to cover the initial investment necessary for Health Information Exchange access.

How the OHIET Voucher Program works for Oklahoma Practices

OHIET has an assessment process as well as an eligibility process to establish eligibility for each hospital and practice applying for funding.

For Hospitals - Requires the ability to send and receive CCD's via Direct Standard Messaging or the equivalent. Level 1 Connectivity requires the ability to query and view individual data on patients via web based portal from the chosen HIO.

Healthcare providers who are eligible for either Medicare or the Medicaid Healthcare IT Meaningful Use Incentive Program are eligible to apply for OHIET Voucher funding to offset the initial cost of HIE implementation and service.

For Hospitals - Level 2 Connectivity requires a direct connection with a certified HIO and the ability to send structured clinical data using HL-7 protocols for transmitting CCD's and other clinical data. Eligible Hospitals will be expected to exchange hospital and ED discharge summaries to the certified HIO. Voucher funding can be applied towards the cost of contractual agreements including interface fees, initiation fees, subscriptions and support fees.

How the OHIET Voucher Program works with SMRTNET

SMRTNET will be accepting Vouchers for eligible rural hospitals and practices looking to register for HIE Access. Once your practice’s voucher has been approved SMRTNET will credit your account with the Voucher amount.

Registering for HIE access with SMRTNET will not affect your ability to use Vouchers. SMRTNET will be able to credit your account with your Voucher for OHIET.
